As a regulated financial company, Coinmama needs to know more about you before you can make a purchase. It's not just us—any legitimate cryptocurrency seller will ask to verify your identity.
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be guided through our verification process. You will need:
- A government issued ID (a non-US international passport, a driver’s license, or a national ID).
- A piece of paper on which you've written "Coinmama" and today's date.
- A smartphone with a working camera.
Note for US citizens: Because Coinmama only operates in certain US states, we need a state-issued ID that includes your address. US citizens should upload a driver’s license or state-issued non-driver's ID card. We’re constantly growing, so if you’re in a state where we don’t currently operate, check back soon—we’re working hard to send Coinmama your way!
How to get verified:
1. Enter your personal details: your first name, middle name (optional), last name, gender, date of birth, address, and ZIP code.
2. Enter the details of your identification card (ID), then scan and upload both the front and back of your ID. Make sure the entire ID is visible, including all four corners, and that the photo isn’t blurry.
Your ID doesn’t have to match your country of residence, but both your residence and your ID need to be in a country or US state we serve.
3. Next, take and upload a selfie (or photograph) of yourself holding your ID and a piece of paper on which you've written “Coinmama” and today’s date.
4. All uploaded? Click “submit documents”!
What’s next? Now you need to be approved. We’re serious about verification, which means our verification team will look everything over carefully. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours. But don’t worry, if we have any questions, we’ll let you know.
