If you're not sure how to take a picture or scan of your IDs, here are a few tips to help you on your way:
- The image of your ID should not just present the portion of the ID with text and the holder's portrait on it, but the entire document - including its edges (all 4 borders and corners of the ID need to be fully visible). This means the image should not tightly contain the ID, but rather present the ID with margins of background (at least a few centimeters of peripheral margins on each side of the ID).
- When using a camera, make sure to capture the entire ID plus margins on all of its sides in the frame of the photo. When using a computer scanner, make sure to place the ID in the center of the scanner (rather than near its edges). In any case, don't crop the image - or at least, don't crop it close to the edges of the ID (leave enough margins of background around the ID in the image).
- Also, when taking the image of your ID, place the ID on a surface and don't hold it in your hand (make sure not to hide any part of the ID with fingers, shadow, or any other objects).
